Kate
& Billy

“We weren't exactly high school sweethearts, but that's where our love story began. We dated for a hot minute, stayed friendly after, and even attended the same university. After one movie date we lost touch - for 11 years! Facebook brought us back together. For the 9 months we were together, long distance, Billy took it upon himself to build a relationship with my parents, especially my mom.
Once I returned to Texas, we quickly began facing hardships together, including the death of my mom to colon cancer. An event that could have torn us apart but ended up bringing us closer together. When we got engaged and started looking for a venue, I knew I wanted a beautiful place where I would feel my mom's presence, but a summer wedding in Texas meant indoors was a requirement! We toured one place before Shooting Star Ranch, but held out hope for SSR because of the name.
The moment we drove onto the property, we knew - but tempered our excitement until we knew we were on the same page! For me, it was the star jasmine on the path to the bathrooms - the smell was my mom saying this is the place. Billy said he knew it was the right place because he loved the barn and knew the pictures would be beautiful, but also because of how much I loved it…he says I don’t hide emotions well! Our wedding was indeed a dream come true, and the only thing we would change would be for time to have slowed down so the perfect night would last and last.”
